ABOUT ROSCOE
Roscoe Tanner, one of Tennis Greats, has won 16 singles titles and 13 doubles titles in the Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) Tour. In 1977, he won his first Grand Slam at The Australian Open, and in 1979, he was a runner-up at Wimbledon, where he lost in 5 sets to Bjorn Borg. For 5 years, he was the doubles partner of the legendary Arthur Ashe. In 1979, he received the “Fair Play Award” from the United Nations. At the height of his career, Roscoe Tanner was ranked number 4 in the world.

Roscoe held the fastest serve record at 153-mph for almost 30 years before it was broken by Andy Roddick at
155-mph in 2004. Though, many analysts still posit that Roscoe’s broken serve record is debatable because of the advancement made in tennis rackets, which has improved and increased the speed of serves. By 2005, he published a confessional book which detailed his rise to the pinnacle of the tennis world and his downfall and human failings.

The book was updated with a revised version called Second Serve and it was published on June 13, 2025. It became the #1 Hottest New Release on Amazon for Tennis. Second Serve revisited some of the stories in his first book but includes many new stories of Roscoe's rebound, his new relationships with his family, especially his daughters, and a new focus over the past.

Roscoe Tanner is not just a tennis pro, he is a father, a grandfather, and a devout Christian. He has 5 daughters, and 3 of them went on to play collegiate tennis. His book, Second Serve, is dedicated to his daughters. Roscoe started a regional Roscoe Tanner Tennis Clinics and camps in Arizona, Florida, and Texas in 2023.
